About Saritta

Nau mai haere mai, Welcome,

I am a Doula (Birth Support) one-to-one and group Childbirth Educator. I am passionate about whānau having access to pregnancy, birth and early parenting education and support to utilise that education. To quote January Harshe of Birth Without Fear:

"I don't care what kind of birth you have...a homebirth, scheduled caesarean, an epidural hospital birth or if you give birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices and that you were respected."

So, if we work together, you can expect me to share evidence-based information, ask lots of questions and support you to advocate for yourselves and your family.

I completed my Diploma in Pregnancy, Childbirth and Early Parenting Education and began teaching group childbirth education in 2022. I then completed the Indie Birth Doula Academy and began practicing as a Doula in 2023.

When I'm not providing birth support and education, I stay occupied socialising with friends and their children, indulging in my new passion for photography, going on adventures with my family and probably reading a book or website about something in the birthing sphere.

I was blessed with a son in 2013, who against all odds was born unassisted in the local hospital with the support of an amazing birth team, a kick-arse midwife who understood the meaning of actual informed consent and a Birth Keeper (Doula) whose unwavering support I will never forget. This experience has taken my passion for pregnancy, birth and early parenting to a whole new level that I am so excited to share with my community.
